Transform Challenges Into Triumphs

ADHD

About

ADHD stands for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a neuro-developmental condition, so it develops as your brain develops, in childhood. It used to be thought that adults did not have ADHD but we now know that many of the symptoms and difficulties persist into adulthood, and many people are being diagnosed for the first time in adulthood

In adults, ADHD is also commonly linked with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression or addiction, where the underlying ADHD has been masked for years by the associated problems that it has caused.

Although ADHD is usually a lifelong condition, it is also a very treatable condition – 80% of people with ADHD respond very positively to medication and, with better understanding of the condition, can usually learn to manage the difficulties that they would otherwise face.

If you think you have ADHD, the first step to getting treatment is to receive a diagnosis from a specialist doctor. This is generally a psychiatrist with considerable experience of working in the field of neurodevelopmental conditions.

Booking Your Assessment

To secure your appointment, you will need to provide credit card details on booking by clicking on the link. You will only be charged on the day of the appointment. On booking, you will automatically be enrolled to our secure online portal where you can manage your appointments, access your history and communicate with your doctor and the team.

Before Your Appointment

In order to optimize the time during the assessment, we will send out some pre-assessment forms for you to complete at least 72 hours before your assessment. To allow enough time for you to complete the forms, you will only be able to book an assessment at least a week in advance. Your appointment will only be confirmed once the forms have been completed.

During Your Appointment

The appointment will take place via video call, so you can attend from the comfort of your own home. It will typically last for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The purpose of the assessment will be to determine whether or not you have ADHD. So we will therefore stick to a structure in order to ensure that all diagnostic criteria are assessed. If at the end of the appointment, we have any doubts about whether you have ADHD, we may ask to see you for a further appointment or seek more information by talking to people who know you well. If we think that you do have ADHD, we will discuss treatment options with you. If we think that you might have a mental health condition other than ADHD, we will provide recommendations for further evaluation.

After Your Appointment

After the initial appointment and collection of any further information, if required, we will provide an assessment report including the diagnosis and treatment recommendations. If you would like to start treatment based on the recommendations, you will be able to book a follow up appointment to discuss this. You can do this by logging into the secure online portal by using the Log In link on the menu bar.
